About the Event
Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania Ride September 24-26, 2021
Have you ever heard of the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania? It is a little-known feature in North-central Pennsylvania’s Tioga County. There are several state parks surrounding it, beautiful roads to ride, and a nice little town of Wellsboro where we can lodge and eat. The ride starts with us taking Route 15 North all the way to our destination. By the time we get up North, 15 is just a regular 2-lane road. It is only 238 miles to Wellsboro, so about a 4.5 hour ride on Friday. We spend all of Saturday riding the area and visiting the parks, seeing the canyon, seeing waterfalls and mountain tops. An extremely enjoyable day of riding. This area is scenic – this is not like the Dragon with super-twisty roads. Country roads perfect for our bikes. Then we return to Maryland on Sunday.
To go on this ride:
Please email John Hardison to let him know you want to go (email@example.com). He can answer any questions you might have, and he needs to keep a roster of who is going. This is a closed, District HOG ride, so it is District HOG members + one guest only.
Call the hotel and make a reservation: Call Dave at the Penn Wells Lodge 570-724-2111. Give them the dates FIRST, September 24 & 25, THEN the group name DistrictHOG and they will put us in our room block. Cost for the two nights total is $270.02 which includes tax. Reserve with confidence, they allow a cancellation. As we approach the date, if it looks like it will be a rainy weekend, we will cancel the entire trip. All of these rooms have an outside door and 10 of them are on the first floor, so you can park your bike right outside your room! They do have some rooms that are on the 2nd floor and require a walk up the stairs. If you want a first-floor room: call first - the early bird catches the worm!
We will leave Maryland early Friday morning and return in the afternoon on Sunday, so this is a 3-day trip.
